Islamic marriage contracts and divorce applications

From 5 January 2026
the mosque offers Islamic marriage contracts and divorce-related applications
Requirements for a religious marriage contract
A wali must be present for the bride.
The bride and groom must explicitly consent to the marriage.
Two male witnesses must be present.
A bridal gift (mahr) must be agreed.
Both parties must be at least 18 years old and observe religious duties such as prayer.
For new Muslims: the man or woman must have been Muslim for at least six months.
Both parties agree that the imam acts as a religious judge with the same authority as a religious judge, including dissolving the marriage contract if necessary.
Marriage contracts at Al-Rahman Mosque are for Muslims only.
A donation to the mosque is required.

Documents required for the religious marriage contract
Original ID card plus a copy, and a copy of your residence permit (for non-German citizens).
If the bride is divorced, an official divorce certificate must be provided.
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
The certificate issued after the marriage contract is solely a religious marriage document. It is not a civil state certificate and does not replace the marriage certificate from the registry office in Germany.
